This
year only 3 bikes were able to go the Pukhet bike week, as
most members were, for various reasons,
out of the
country.
Klaus,
with girlfriend, Cook, Jose, with girlfriend, Mai,
and Mike. Jose and Mike had to work on Friday, 9th April, so Klaus and
Cook decided to leave on Thursday morning and meet up with Jose and
Mike in Phuket on Saturday.
Jose,
Mai and Mike left very early on Saturday morning (3:30) and, despite
heavy
traffic heading down to Phuket for the Songkran holiday, a 1
hour lunch break, and 15-20 minute breaks after filling up, they were
still
able to reach Pattong Beach by the end of the day.
They
stoped once more, just before the Phuket bridge, where they
met up with fellow bikers, who kindly handed out fresh drinking water
and cold face towels.
After
freshening up, the bikers all rode the final part of the journey
together, making another stop on the way, which many used to exchange
welcomes.
Jose,
Mai and Mike finally arrived at the hotel in Pattong Beach, where Klaus
and Cook were waiting for them.
The
very first thing was to jump into the hotel swimming pool to cool off,
after which a cold beer was more than welcome.
At
the party Warriors met up with many old friends from Pattaya,
including Jumin and Thore from Burapa, Manop from Bison Rider
and Wolfgang from Shark Rider, as well as with some other good friends
and brothers from diverse biker clubs in Thailand and South East Asia.
Warriors
stayed for 3 nights in Phuket, visiting some of their favorite
beaches, including Surin Beach.
Tuesday
morning was the start of the second stage of the Phuket Bike Week Trip,
this time, to Ko-Lanta, which is about 280km from Phuket, just south of
Krabi.
On
arrival in Ko-lanta, the trio was quite lucky in finding a very nice,
comfortable and inexpensive hotel.
It
was the first time that Warriors had visited Ko-Lanta, which is still
very much laid back, with very little tourism. After a good
meal and a long sleep it was time to discover the island and its
beautiful beaches. The name of one beach reflects the values of
Ko-Lanta - "Relax Beach".
At
a beach bar later that evening they met some other bikers and then a
long
night of drinking began.
Due
to work, Mike had to leave Ko-Lanta on Friday, so Jose decided to ride
back with him. Klaus chose to stay a further night and then go on to
Ko-Pi Pi, before returning to Pattaya.
This
year Warriors had luck with the weather; there was practically no rain,
which, for this time of year, is very unusual in the south.
